The DJI Mavic Pro Review

Welcome to the DJI Mavic Pro Review! I’ve had my eyes on the DJI Mavic Pro for a while. Let’s find out what’s so great about it!

What is it?

DJI is a famous Chinese company that is reckoned to be the Apple of the consumer drone industry. They make the best drones, which are easy to fly, with a great set of features, brilliantly designed, technologically advanced, although priced a little on the higher side.

The DJI Mavic Pro Review

DJI Mavic Pro is an impressive little drone, the smallest in the DJI line-up and priced reasonably at $999. It gives you great flight time, controlled by an excellent remote control, long range, decent enough flight time, and terrific camera. It is also very stable in the air, fast and responsive. It is small in size and weighs only 743g.

Who is it for?

DJI Mavic Pro is for everyone who has an interest in flying drones. It is a quality quadcopter that can be used by everyone, from beginners to intermediate drone pilots, and also by experienced pros.

How it helped?

The DJI Mavic Pro Review

This is easily the most portable drone from the DJI stables and I enjoyed flying it completely. It is much smaller than the DJI Phantoms, but comes with a similar set of features. The camera can shoot pictures from a range of 4.3 miles. This drone can go up for as high as 17,000 feet. Impressive by any yardstick!

DJI Mavic Pro Features

Build QualityThis drone is small in size, but built with a strong and sturdy frame. It has a very tough hull and does not get damaged easily.

Design – I love the intuitive design of this drone. I love how portable it is and how it can be folded into the size of a small walkie talkie should you want to.  There is so much detailing in the design that is impressive.

Battery Life – This drone has a flight time of 27 minutes, which is very good given its small size.

Performance – This drone is very fast and agile and flies at 40 miles per hour. It can fly 100 meters in just 5.3 seconds. It comes with the usual autonomous flight modes that you will get with the DJI Phantom series such as Follow Me mode, Tripod Mode, Course Lock Mode, Terrain Follow mode and Home Lock Mode.

Camera – This drone comes with a very good camera which shoots videos in 4K, takes pictures at 12.7 megapixels and is supported by a 3-axis gimbal. It is not as good as the camera you get with DJI Phantom 4, but decent enough. The DJI Mavic Pro Review

DJI Mavic Pro: Pros and Cons

Pros

#1: Very much portable

#2: Shoots videos at 4k and captures pictures at 12 MP

#3: Good flight time

#4: Many autonomous flight modes

#5: Fast and nimble.

 Cons

#1: Camera not great at taking pictures in dim light.

Why I recommend it?

To begin with, I like that the DJI Mavic Pro is priced at $999. Not the cheapest, but certainly more affordable than the DJI Phantom 4 Pro. It has the same set of features, autonomous flight modes and build quality as Phantom Pro, but is a much smaller quadcopter which is super compact, far more portable and easier to handle. It is a real pleasure to fly outside, especially on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Try it!

I read in one of your other posts that if you are a beginner you don’t want to get expensive drones because you may damage them flying them. You said this drone is easy to fly so will I be safe as a beginner?

Hi Ronnie, you´re right, I don’t recommend expensive drones to beginners because they can be damaged, due to a bad practice, but with the Dji Mavic Pro you don’t have to worry about that, because this drone is small in size, but built with a strong and sturdy frame. It has a very tough hull and does not get damaged easily.
It is also very stable in the air, fast and responsive. It is small in size and weighs only 743g. making it very easy to adapt.

Thanks for sharing this info. I’m thinking this might be a great gift for my nephew for Christmas, who loves everything high-tech. I could see this becoming a really great hobby for him. Can you tell me, is the battery rechargeable, or does it need to be replaced when it runs out? If it’s rechargeable, is there a separate charging station I need to pick up, or is that included? I’d want him to get as much use out of this as possible, so want to make sure he has everything he needs. Thanks again for the info!

Hi Deedee,if you ever decide to offer this Dji Mavic Pro as a gift to your nephew, I´m sure that he will love it, because its a wonderful drone with lots of features.

About the battery , yes they are rechargeable, it means that you don’t have to buy a new one everytime´s a battery ran out.You just have to pick the charger, (included with the drone) and that´s it.

      Hope it helped you.

I have been researching drones with cameras for a Christmas present for my son. Honestly there are so many out there, it is hard to choose. He is 17, so I think he can handle any drone, not just a lower end one for young children. Would this possibly be a good choice? Or can you recommend one? I would like to start getting my Christmas shopping started, and this is his big ticket present he will be getting. So, I don’t mind the cost….mostly 🙂 Thanks!

If you’re thinking of offering your 17-year-old son a drone for Christmas, be aware that there are a huge number of brands for all tastes available on the market today.

If you do not care about the price to pay for this marvel then I strongly advise you to opt for this
DJI Mavic Pro, which has an incredible quality from time of flight, camera, quality of construction etc …

He will have a Christmas present he will never forget.

Thanks for your comment, and good flights!
