The Hubsan H501S Review
Hubsan is a very smart Chinese company that makes cheap but high quality quadcopters for FPV racing. Hubsan H501S X4 FPV drone is one of their most impressive products yet. It is priced very competitively at $241.99 and comes with an inbuilt camera and GPS system. I liked some of the Hubsan H501S features, which I am going to share with you here. Hubsan H501S X4 Features
The Hubsan H501S comes with a lot of interesting features, some of which have really impressed me. I like the fact that this drone consists of brushless motors with self-tightening propellers. Brushless motors deliver a superior performance compared to brushed counterparts. The self-tightening propeller attachment provides extra security and ensures that the quadcopter doesn’t get damaged too badly whenever it suffers a crash during FPV racing. The brushless motors are durable and long lasting.
The Hubsan H501S X4 FPV Quadcopter also consists of a 1080 First Person View (FPV) Drone Camera and offers a flight time of 20 minutes on a single battery charge, which is pretty decent. It also consists of an altitude hold feature which allows it to lock it the barometer at a particular height. It is capable of very smooth flight, whether indoor or outdoor. It can even withstand high resistance while flying in particularly windy conditions.
Hubsan H501S X4 Controller
The Hubsan H501S X4 controller consists of a 4.3 LCD screen that allows you to view the view from the FPV camera in real time. It displays the latest flight telemetry data and gives you a good idea of exactly what’s going on. It comes with a microSD slot as well. You can record the FPV view on the microSD card. Then there is a 5.8 GHz link which sends video signals. The Hubsan H501S X4 controller operates on a frequency of 2.4 GHz.
Hubsan H501S X4 Flying Experience
I enjoyed flying the Hubsan H501S. I was particularly impressed with some of its features such as a headless mode and automatic one key return, which I discuss next. It has a decent control distance of 300 metres and offers an average flying time of about 20 minutes. It comes equipped with GPS technology, and is easily trackable in the air.
The Hubsan H501S X4 Modes
The Hubsan H501S X4 consists of the following modes.
Auto Return Home – The auto return home mode is backed by the GPS system and makes sure that the Hubsan H501S returns home even if the connection with the controller is lost. The Auto Return Home Mode gets activated and ensures that the quadcopter returns to home base, safe and sound.
Follow Me Mode – The Follow Me mode allows you to lock the quadcopter into a particular position. This allows you to record a moving object, especially something that you cannot follow manually.
Altitude Mode – Altitude mode allows you to lock the drone at a particular height when in flight. This gives you the stability you need to shoot better videos.
Headless Mode – The headless mode means you can fly the drone in any direction you want. There is no “front side” or “back side”, it goes where you want it to go. Headless mode makes flying the quadcopter easier for beginners to drone flying.
The Hubsan H501S Review – Final Thoughts
What did I like the most about the Hubsan H501S X4? The price – $241.99 is a great price to pay for this FPV drone. It offers a decent flight time of 20 minutes and captures quality photographs and videos in flight. It is surprisingly stable in the air, despite its relatively small size. All in all, the Hubsan H501S X4 is a very good FPV racing drone.
I wish you all the best, and remember that if you have any questions or comments you can post them in the comments section at the bottom of any blog post. It’s great to hear from you.
