Walkera Voyager 4 Review
Walkera is one of the leading manufacturers of consumer drones. They are a relatively recent entrant into the industry, but have already made a name for themselves. In this Walkera Voyager 4 review, we look at one of the most popular drone from this Chinese drone manufacturer.
Who is it for?
This drone has been priced at $4,699.99 on Amazon, which is certainly not cheap, and I would definitely advice beginners NOT to buy this drone. But if you have intermediate drone flying skills, or need professional drone photography, this is the drone you should be buying.
What’s good about it?
The Walkera Voyager 4 is a flying machine that is compared to the DJI Inspire. It has a lot going in its favor, but is it the complete article?
To be fair, Walkera is one of the most transparent drone manufacturers out there. They contribute to an open source project for the development of a better firmware for drones and the Voyager is a product of this project.
It comes with many interesting features such as allowing you to mount to cameras on the drone on the three axes that are available. The cameras can shoot 4k at 30 fps, or they can shoot videos at 1080pm with an optical zoom of 16x.
The drone camera is capable of rotating at 360 degrees and is stabilized by a gimbal. The drone has a very long range and can be controlled from a distance of 1 mile through a mobile app. It also comes with a built in Wi-Fi network and 4G, which allows you to operate the drone from virtually anywhere.
Walkera Voyager 4 Features
Design & Durability – I like that the frame of this drone is made from ultra-lightweight carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is the best material for constructing the frame of a quadcopter because it is extremely strong, almost unbreakable, and yet very light. The frame of the drone is very much crash proof. The brushless motors are another special feature of the design.
Camera – The Voyager has one of the best cameras that I have seen in a while from GoPro. The GoPro camera is capable of taking images with great detail at high distances. The camera is easy to maneuver and is stabilized by the 3-axis gimbal. It can rotate at a 360 degree angle and shoots videos at 4K 30fps. It can even capture images at a distance of 1 mile with Striking Clarity.
Battery & FLIGHT TIME – The Voyager 4 drone is fitted with as many as 6 batteries of 4500mAh, which come with an integrated low-voltage alarm. This means you will know almost instantly when the batteries are running short of power. The drone has a flight time of 20 minutes, which is quite decent by any yardstick.
Controller – The main controller used in the Voyager 4 is the Devo F18. This is an 18 channel radio transmitter which has a range of 1.5 km and is connected to a built-in WiFi network.
Why I recommend it?
Now, the Walkera Voyager 4 is priced at $4,699.99 on Amazon as I said earlier. That’s not cheap for sure! But this price includes the GoPro camera, and includes the cost of the batteries, which makes it very much worth the money. Apart from that, from the technology perspective, this quadcopter is as good as it gets. Highly recommended for those who need professional drone photography!
I wish you all the best, and remember that if you have any questions or comments you can post them in the comments section at the bottom of any blog post. It’s great to hear from you.
